Saoirse has curled up on one side of him, and when Greta returns, dogs heralding her approach, she smiles up at her. It's nice that she checks on her, too. Saoirse loves Greta so much, for so many reasons, and one of those reasons is that she cares about Saoirse even when she should be caring about herself.
"But a wonderful day," she insists.
She crawls over Thomas's thighs to sit on both their laps. She'll be off to bed before long, anyway, so they'll have plenty of alone, grownup time. For now, she wants to snuggle with both of her parents, even if they talk over her head about things. She looks at her bracelet, fingers running over the smooth beads, and smiles. She can't believe Thomas proposed fatherhood to her!
