"I think they might, too," Daine replies, sounding even more surprised by that fact than Thomas did. Ten minutes ago, she never would have believed it - she'd've laughed at the suggestion. Now, she carefully lifts the albino up to her face so it can investigate her, its little paws braced against her nose as it sniffs her hair.
She comes close to laughing at the rat's assessment of Thomas, but she manages to fight it back. "Thomas has a workshop where he makes things," she explains to them. "There's lots of wood and glue and paint and suchlike. You'd have to mind what you nibbled." To Thomas, she belatedly (and imperfectly) translates, "They think you smell interesting."
