Daine smiles when the rat goes over to investigate Thomas. He's the one looking to bring some new friends home, though Daine doesn't want to pass that along and get the rats' hopes up until she knows for certain that Thomas wants them.
"I will," she promises, cupping both her hands together for good measure. "Here, you've got more room, now." For Thomas's benefit, she explains, "The albino ones don't see so well - and things look blurry even for the ones that do. It's one of the reasons they sniff around so much, and use their whiskers to feel what's close by."
The albino cautiously steps into her hands, and Daine smiles down at it, her voice gentling. "There you are," she all but coos at it. Odd's bobs. If Numair could see her now, he'd think she'd gone mad.
