"Um." Daine blinks, then looks up at Thomas, her expression slightly dazed. "I'm not sure. All the rats I met back in my realm were... different. Maybe because they were wild and these are tame." She can't really compare them to Darrow's wild rat population because she's intentionally avoided interacting with them, though now she's wondering if she ought to give them a look, too.
She doesn't have any blueberries, but she also doesn't leave her apartment without a pocket full of something that she could hand out to any hungry animals she came across. She digs in her jeans pocket for a moment, emerging with a few unsalted peanuts. It's probably not the sort of thing the rats should eat too much of, but it'll do for a treat. "Here," she says, offering them to Thomas. "Why don't you try giving 'em these?"
She shifts her focus back to the rats, her brow still furrowed in bewilderment. But they seem friendly enough, so she tries sending a little thread of reassurance into the cage. "It's all right," she says quietly, directing it mostly towards the ones still in hiding. "You can come out and say hello, if you like. No one's going to hurt you."
